Every blue pin is a mural or piece of outdoor street art — from the Fan District's Nils Westergard portraits to the international guest artists of the RVA Street Art Festival near Shockoe Bottom. Every cherry-red pin is a historic site: churches, cemeteries, monuments, and buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Every magenta pin is a museum, from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to the Poe Museum.
A handful of pins in each category get a gold ring — these are the ones worth prioritizing if you only have an afternoon: large-scale murals by internationally known artists, the big civic landmarks, and the marquee museums.
